One of my photos (not the one above, but it does show illustrate some furious dancing) will be included in the group show, Hard Times Require Furious Dancing at the Busboys and Poets on 5th & K, with a reception for the artists tonight, Wednesday, September 29th from 6-8 p.m.

I hope to see you there if you can make it!

A quick note before I pack for a much-needed mini-vacay: two of my photos were featured in an excellent PBS MediaShift article about the Public Media Corps and the work we've been doing in D.C. thus far. Click on the image above to read it!

I have good news to share: I'll be showing one of my prints at Hard Times Require Furious Dancing, an art exhibit and celebration of Alice Walker's latest book of poetry. The opening reception (free and open to the public) is Sept. 29, 6-8pm at Busboys and Poets on 5th & K in Washington, D.C. There will also be a "Furious Dance Party" on Oct. 2, 8pm-1am at the same location. (This is a ticketed event.)

Also, I teamed up with the tremendously talented photographers Kameelah Rasheed and Allison McDaniel to form Mambu Badu, a photography collective focused on finding, nurturing and promoting emerging black women photographers. We currently have an open call for photographs based on the theme of Memory.

I'm so excited and humbled to be a part of both experiences. Join me at Busboys next Wednesday and over at Mambu Badu, won't you?
